Horse Competition to be Held in Athens – Open to the Public

Equestrian Drill Teams of Texas (EDTT) is hosting the Texas State Drill Finals at Henderson County Regional Fairpark Indoor Arena in Athens, TX June 21-22, 2024. This family-friendly event features a thrilling mounted drill team competition. It is open to the public with free parking and admission for spectators. Teams of horses and riders in elaborate costumes will showcase intricate routines set to coordinating music. Fans can watch youth and adult teams compete in 12 unique divisions. Events range from adorable kiddos in colorful themes to fast-paced rodeo and patriotic performances. Judges travel from across the country to evaluate and award the hardworking cowgirls (& cowboys too!) for these elegant displays of horsemanship.

Friday, June 21st, youth teams mount up for a full day of fun showcasing the skills they’re worked all season to master. Friday evening, rodeo teams with their fast horses, fringe, and flags put on a thrilling show! Saturday, June 22nd will feature adult and mixed level teams in exciting theme and traditional western horsemanship divisions. The Developing Drill class will showcase the littlest of our riders in Texas followed by a special exhibition honoring graduating seniors Saturday evening. A full concession stand offers delicious fried foods, cold drinks, and snow cones.

Equestrian Drill Teams of Texas is a non-profit association formed in 2022 that boasts teams from all over Texas and surrounding states.
