Westwind Morgans is pleased to announce Westwind Otto, in only his second year of Open Western Performance Horse Competition has qualified for the “World Celebration of Champions”. The “World” as its known, is one of the most prestigious National Reined Cowhorse Association shows of the year. It is scheduled for February 10 – 20, 2023 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Open Two-Rein preliminaries are Sunday February 19 and the finals are Monday February 20th. It will be broadcast live via webcast.

To the best of my knowledge Westwind Otto is the only Morgan Stallion to accomplish this in decades, possibly since 1949 when the California Reined Cowhorse Association, the forerunner to today’s National Reined Cowhorse Association began. The NRCHA is the pinnacle of Reined Cowhorse in this Country and the Morgan Breed WILL be represented. Isn’t it about time?
Years of effort, hopes and dreams, toil and expense has put the 100% Old Foundation Ranch Bred Morgan Horse back in the Open Western National Performance Horse spotlight. I would like to thank everyone along the way for their help and encouragement.
This is a new beginning for a much deserved breed. There are other prospects coming along to follow. The future of the 100% Old Foundation Ranch Bred Morgan Horse is at stake. Indeed, with greater effort from more breeders, owners, trainers and riders the Western Performance Morgan will once again flourish.
It literally takes my breathe away to think that Westwind Otto is leading the way back into National Western Performance Horse Competition for a once proud, tough, and hardworking breed. The 100% Old Foundation Ranch Bred Morgan, the Pride and Product of the American Rancher.
