Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity Returns Into Reno September 14-18, 2022; Reno Snaffle Bit Sale Featured September 17

The Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity, presented by Scooter Kat, will return to Reno, Nev. for the sixth annual futurity and horse show Sept. 14-18, 2022 at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Event Center. Continuing the tradition of the reined cow horse futurity on the West Coast, the event will feature Open and Non-Pro futurity divisions; Open, Non Pro and Youth horse show classes; a western trade show; and the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity Horse Sale on Saturday, Sept. 17.

“New for 2022, JJ Fisher Construction and Diane Shaffer with Gotta Go Get It will be sponsoring the Non Pro Futurity division. Thanks to their support and sponsorship, we’ll be guaranteeing $20,000 to the 2022 Non Pro Futurity champion,” shared Ted Robinson of Oak View, Calif., and one of the founders of the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity. “Our sponsors are an integral part of carrying on this event in Reno year after year.”

The Sherri Gilkerson Memorial Foundation will sponsor three key classes, presenting awards, perpetual bronze trophies, added money in the Sherri Gilkerson Memorial Open Bridle, and scholarship monies to the Sherri Gilkerson Memorial Youth Bridle and Youth Boxing top five winners. The futurity event will also feature the Benny Guitron Memorial Open Hackamore and Jimmie Paul/Tenlight Memorial Open Two Rein. Entries are due Sept. 1, 2022, and the futurity draw date is scheduled for Sept. 5.

Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity Horse Sale – Saturday, Sept. 17
The Reno Snaffle Bit Horse Sales, managed by Parnell Dickinson, Inc., is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 17 in the main arena. The horse sale will feature two-year-olds, performance and ranch horses, and yearlings and broodmares. Two-year-old and yearling sale incentives are available for horses who come back to compete in the Reno Snaffle Bit Futurity during their 3-year-old year.
