Most Epic Horse Racing Moments

Horse racing is one of the most engrossing spectator sports in the world. The excitement and thrill when one’s favorite horse wins cannot be compared with anything else, especially if you have backed a horse to win through sports betting.

This is the reason a great majority of fans look for how to bet on Melbourne Cup when the prestigious competition gets near. They look for a place where they can find all the latest updates, betting tips, and the best offers to help them have a great sporting experience. And though almost all the bookmakers offer welcome bonuses for their new customers, smart punters take the trouble of reading all the terms and conditions associated before choosing any brand.

1- Secretariat (1973 Belmont Stakes)

The brilliance of some racehorses cannot be doubted by anyone in the world. Secretariat was one such horse who made a huge name for himself in the horse racing world. His 1973 Belmont Stakes victory is regarded as the best moment in the tournament’s history.

Nobody could believe their eyes that day when Secretariat gave a greatly dominating performance and won the race by an incredible 31 lengths. It looks unlikely that the Belmont spectators could ever see such a dominating performance again by any other racehorse.

The legendary racehorse didn’t show his brilliance at Belmont only, rather he set the records for every Triple Crown race that year.

2- Affirmed (1978 Belmont Stakes)

Great sporting moments are all about rivalries and the 1978 Belmont Stakes saw one of the best horse racing rivalries of all time. After narrowly missing out on victories at both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, Alydar headed to the Belmont Stakes to end the Triple Crown bid of his rival Affirmed.

Both contenders competed fiercely, however, Affirmed once again prevailed by the narrowest of margins- by a nose. This way, Affirmed became the 11th Triple Crown winner. However, Alydar was just as brilliant who provided a great spectacle for everyone.

3- American Pharoah (2015 Belmont Stakes)

Racehorses failed to win the Triple Crown for a long time until American Pharoah came along. The Bob Baffert trained horse performed this feat in 2015, thus breaking the dry spell of 37 years.

American Pharoah didn’t get the perfect start in the 2015 Belmont Stakes, however, he quickly grabbed the first spot and ultimately claimed the race by five and a half lengths. Many believed that a Triple Crown victory in the modern era was impossible, yet he proved all of them wrong.
