Housing and transport for those in the path of Hurricane Irma.
Many groups within the veterinary and equine communities are working to provide aid to horses and their caretakers affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma.
At this time, financial donations are the most preferred because of the difficulty in getting supplies from outside of the region to the affected horses. A list of the groups who are supporting this effort are listed below. Some of these organizations and companies also are accepting disaster relief financial donations.
In addition, a supply drive is being coordinated in Lexington, Ky., through a partnership of local equine groups. Information is provided below about this effort and the specific supplies that have been requested by first responders in areas affected by Harvey and Irma.
For more information about needs or ways to help horses and their caretakers, visit the social media outlets for these organizations, and search #HarveyHorseHelp on Twitter.
